Web Events of 2005: Google takes a look back at 2005
Merry Christmas, everyone! Yes, that’s right, it’s Christmas. Forgive me all of you who don’t celebrate Christmas. Whatever makes you happy, just be happy in it and leave my Christmas alone! ;-)
In looking at the Web Events of 2005, I would be remiss to not nod my head, on this Christmas Sunday, to the annual Google Zeitergeist.
This is the official Google review of what users search for in 2005. Without further adieu, we find that Googlers such as yourself are looking for information on celebrities. Why are people so obsessed with the entertainment industry? It is beyond me.
Top 10 Google Searches of 2005
1. Janet Jackson
2. Hurricane Katrina
3. tsunami
4. xbox 360
5. Brad Pitt
6. Michael Jackson
7. American Idol
8. Britney Spears
9. Angelina Jolie
10. Harry Potter
We also find interesting tidbits like people don’t really care about “WMDs” anymore, the CIA leak captured peoples attention for a long time, natural disasters from the enlarged water event to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita dominated news searches amd that we’re really scared of getting the bird flu!
Lord of the Rings kicks Harry Potter’s ass. Apparently, alot of folks wanted Jennifer Anniston’s body (or maybe Brad Pitt’s) because that was a hot item last January. It must have been their bodies because their love life is completely uninteresting.
There ya have it! The world according to Google… 2005!
Merry Christmas, y’all!
