Two lessons learned from Pownce

On the front page of Pownce, people bid their farewells.
Pownce, the Twitter competitor founded by Digg’s Kevin Rose is closing its doors on the 15th of December. Lessons learned from Pownce:
First. Sometimes, it isn’t about the technology. Pownce offered a ton more features than Twitter. Not only was it more functional, but the GUI also looked better. At the end of the day, it didn’t quite make it. So what are people after? Well, community of course. Social networks and micro blogging communities are like the next fashion trend - they’re only as good as the next fad. Once the community moves on, the fad dies.
