Now this is odd. I upgraded my personal blog to WordPress 2.6 the other day. Everything looked normal until now. Suddenly, I’m being asked to upgrade to version 2.6 again.
Anyone else seeing this false update notification?

Now this is how software should be upgraded! WordPress 2.6 ships with a plethora of cool and useful new features, minus the usual backward compatibility headaches. I just installed it on my personal blog, and it’s already making my life easier.

Despite being inexcusably unprepared for the server load, the Mozilla Foundation made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest number of software downloads in 24 hours. Firefox 3 Download Day scored an official tally of 8,002,530 downloads, exceeding their goal of 5,000,000.

Firefox 3 not only fixes Firefox 2’s infamous memory inefficiencies. It blows all other browsers’ memory efficiencies away, according to a test by developer Sam Allen.

Now that Nokia has bought Symbian and plans to open source it, they hope to standardize the Symbian platform across all Symbian phones. Many a developer has cried over the need to build many versions of the same Symbian app for various Symbian phone models from multiple manufacturers. Soon, they will cry no more.

Despite (self-inflicted) server troubles, Mozilla exceeded its world record target for Firefox 3 Download Day. They were shooting for five million downloads in 24 hours. They exceeded that number in five hours, ending the day with 8.3 million.
