Google Lively Does Not Make Me Lively

I like to think I’m an okay gamer. I’ve been playing video games since the Atari 2600, so I can move fairly well within virtual worlds. I can Crippling Slash enemy monks in Guild Wars just as well as I can hoverboard with friendly girls in There.
Maybe that’s why my expectations of Google Lively might […]

Wii Fat Song

Remember, gamers: no matter how good your girlfriend’s ass looks while she’s using it, a game console is not an exercise machine. Sarcastic Gamer drives that point home with their latest parody, the Wii Fat Song.
First Sony thinks the PS3 is an online video player, and now Nintendo thinks the Wii is an exercise machine. […]

N-Gage Suggestions

Nokia has demonstrated that they listen to the blogosphere by reconsidering their Draconian single-device N-Gage game licenses. With that in mind, allow me to offer three simple suggestions to improve the N-Gage service.

Pac-Man Explained

The upcoming Pac-Man movie will, of course, need an actual premise. I doubt the game’s creators had a story in mind when they thought up a yellow semicircle thing eating ghosts. Games didn’t need stories in 1980.
The old animated series premise was fun, but it’s probably too silly for a movie. This picture, on the […]

How to Score 100,000,000+ Points in Space Impact Kappa Base Mission 1

Space Impact Kappa Base is the N-Gage iteration of Nokia’s popular Space Impact mobile game. Kappa Base introduces a new gameplay dynamic: grazing enemy bullets with your Skyblade accumulates both points and kinetic energy. Kinetic energy, in turn, can be used to power special weapons.
One of the regular weapons in the game, the Guardians, absorbs […]

Pac-Man Movie Coming Soon

Producer Steven Paul, the man behind such cinematic gems as Ghost Rider and Bratz, has secured $200 million in funding for five new films. Among them are adaptations of two classic video game franchises: Castlevania and Pac-Man. Yes, Pac-Man.
No plot details yet on the Pac-Man movie, but this old parody trailer probably isn’t much worse.

Will Microsoft Bid for Take-Two?

I just had a crazy thought.
Microsoft now has $47.5 billion it couldn’t use to buy Yahoo. Electronic Arts bid only $2 billion for Take-Two Interactive.
Microsoft paid Take-Two $50 million — half the game’s development budget — for Xbox 360 exclusive downloadable content in Grand Theft Auto IV. GTA4 is a smash hit that will probably […]

Will GTA4 Raise EA’s Take-Two Bid?

As Take-Two Interactive’s Grand Theft Auto IV rakes in $500 million in its opening week, kicking Iron Man’s ass five times over, what will happen to Electronic Arts’ takeover bid?
