P2P Sites Mock Lousy MediaDefender Nastygrams
Remember how DMCA stool pigeon MediaDefender got nine months of internal emails leaked, revealing their deceptive practices? Now they’re trying to scare P2P site owners into getting rid of the evidence. Their lawyers are sending out badly-written nastygrams.
Apparently, their copyright lawyer has no idea how to write a proper DMCA takedown notice. “Despite us being located in Canada, if you do actually figure out how to compose a valid DMCA notice, we will honor it just as soon as we’re done laughing at you,” taunts IsoHunt.
Even if MediaDefender’s lawyers actually learn to write, it won’t matter to MegaNova: “In case you haven’t noticed, this site is located in Europe (I hope you can point it out on a map) where your stupid copyright claims have no base. But fair is fair you guys did suffer over the past week so here’s bit of advice to you guys: Fuck you! Fuck you again! Fuck you again and again and again! Fuck you again and again and again and again!”
Then again, I don’t blame MediaDefender’s lawyers for being unable to write real DMCA takedown notices in this case. Passing around incriminating leaked memos hardly counts as “piracy”. They’re threatening legal action when they know they’ll probably lose. They’re pretty much restricted to the kind of senseless saber-rattling that makes their clients look like idiots.
