MySpace No Longer Cool?

Stowe Boyd posted an entry today about MySpace being on the downturn. My lack of interest in MySpace has been well known, but Stowe being the social networking guru that he is, has been predicting for far longer that the target audience would dash from the service as quickly as they signed on. The target audience is pretty fickle and is very much into what is “cool”.

This sort of interaction is inherently faddish, and once the daytrippers start to take over, the hipsters will find somewhere else to be hip. And there is nothing less cool than pushing Fox TV promos into the social stream. Expect that decline to accelerate.
