Firefox 3 Download Day: Best Clusterfuck Ever

by Mike Abundo on June 19th, 2008

Despite (self-inflicted) server troubles, Mozilla exceeded its world record target for Firefox 3 Download Day. They were shooting for five million downloads in 24 hours. They exceeded that number in five hours, ending the day with 8.3 million.

Mozilla’s still whittling down overcounts, but the final tally will definitely put Firefox 3 in the Guinness Book of World Records. That’s not even counting downloads from the mirrors people put up while Mozilla’s sites were down. If Firefox 3 Download Day was a global gangbang, it did not lack volunteer fluffers.

I’ve been having marathon sex with Firefox 3 all night. I plug her in every which way, and she’s smoothly taking me everywhere I want to go. Firefox 2 was a bit of drama queen; by contrast, I can get pretty extreme with Firefox 3.

She’s so worth the wait. Best clusterfuck ever. Suck it, IE7.
