Yahoo Shareholders See the Light

I say Yahoo did the right thing by fighting off Microsoft. Dvorak says shareholders who disagree are sick and greedy. Carl Icahn, champion of the sick and greedy, proposes a board full of losers.
Good to see Yahoo’s biggest shareholders finally see the light.

Goodbye ZoneAlarm!

I was a loyal ZoneAlarm firewall user for years. Despite its annoying prompts and resource-hogging, I stuck with it through multiple versions. Even after ZoneAlarm developer Check Point foolishly dropped the software’s cool red-and-yellow logo for the boring green-and-blue one, I still stuck with it.
Today, I uninstalled ZoneAlarm, and I am never installing it again. […]

Windows XP Girl Wallpapers

Windows XP may be off the streets, but she’s still in our hearts. She’s certainly still on my desktop.

Bill Gates’ Farewell

We all hate Bill Gates, but you could still feel the emotion in his voice as he bade goodbye to Microsoft yesterday. I had to clean up a lot of choking and stuttering and other verbal garbage as I transcribed his farewell address.

Windows 7 Multitouch Girl?

With Windows 7 supporting multitouch, you have to wonder what its OS-tan will look like. OS-tans — Japanese fan mascots for various operating systems — take the form of cute anime girls with characteristics representative of their respective OSes. 2000-tan is businesslike, XP-tan is bouncy, etc.

Windows 2000 Cosplay Girl

Bill Gates’ statement that Windows 7 will take less memory and be more efficient could herald a return to the ethos that created the long-lived Windows 2000.

Microsoft Gives Up on Technology

Few things are sadder than a technology company giving up on technology. That’s exactly what Microsoft’s been doing.
They’re paying an ad agency $300 million to rebrand themselves as “cool”. I have a better idea: how about they spend that money to build products that are actually cool? In a world where one guy can build […]

It’s Your Turn Now, Steve-O

As Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer gets eggs thrown at him, let us recall his college buddy and former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates getting a pie thrown at him ten years ago.

Will Microsoft Bid for Take-Two?

I just had a crazy thought.
Microsoft now has $47.5 billion it couldn’t use to buy Yahoo. Electronic Arts bid only $2 billion for Take-Two Interactive.
Microsoft paid Take-Two $50 million — half the game’s development budget — for Xbox 360 exclusive downloadable content in Grand Theft Auto IV. GTA4 is a smash hit that will probably […]

Yahoo is Right to Turn Down Microsoft

Despite Ballmer’s bravado, Microsoft raised its bid for Yahoo but Jerry Yang didn’t bite. Michael Arrington suggests Yahoo has committed corporate suicide to preserve its honor from being raped by Microsoft.
I disagree. Yahoo is right to turn down Microsoft. This was an act of courage, not suicide.
Sure, when the Tokyo stock market opens in several […]
