Digg Compatibility Score Guilts You Into Digging More

I got into the beta for the new Digg Recommendation Engine. Aside from recommending stories from Diggers like you, it also lists the Diggers most like you and scores your compatibility with them.
Imagine my disappointment at discovering that I shared so very little in common with other Diggers.

Most recommendation engines tell you what you want based on aggregate data from faceless users. As starkly revealed by the 09F9 incident, most Digg users are rebellious geeks who don’t care much for faceless entities telling them what they want.

So I check my iGoogle for the twentieth time today, and I see this in my iGoogle Digg widget:

TrueNuff Entertainment, the crazy guys behind the Mac versus PC parodies, have been tapped to make ads comparing social news startup Thoof with social news pioneer Digg. The ads emphasize Thoof’s recommendation engine, folksonomy, and wiki-like editing. That, and they’re pretty damn funny.
